Detailed tutorial on installing mysql on centos 6.9

Detailed tutorial on installing mysql on centos 6.9

1. Confirm whether MySQL has been installed. You can know it by the following code

[root@cdh1 zjl]# yum list installed mysql*
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * base: mirrors.zju.edu.cn
 * extras: mirrors.aliyun.com
 * updates: mirrors.aliyun.com
Installed Packages
MySQL-python.x86_64 1.2.3-0.3.c1.1.el6@base
mysql-libs.x86_64 5.1.73-8.el6_8 @anaconda-CentOS-201703281317.x86_64/6.9

2. To uninstall the installed MySQL, it is recommended to use the yum command, because the yum command can automatically delete the dependencies related to MySQL; if you use the rpm command, you also need to manually delete the files related to MySQL, which is more troublesome.

[root@cdh1 zjl]# yum remove MySQL-python.x86_64 mysql-libs.x86_64

3. Use the whereis command to find mysql-related files. Because yum was used to uninstall in step 2, mysql was cleaned up very cleanly. If rpm is used, it will be very troublesome and there will be many files that need to be cleared manually.
