Web Design Tutorial (1): Steps and Overall Layout
<br /> Note: All texts, except those indicating the website type, are for corporate sites. Please feel free to leave comments. If there are any changes, they will be marked in the prompt text on the homepage. If it involves business issues, I may not elaborate too much. But I will talk about some basic principles and handling skills. Important texts are generally bold. Experienced people can just read the bold content. Except for the first one, beginners can skip the others.
The communication part is suitable for most design industries.
This chapter is all theoretical stuff and does not involve actual design.
It is really hard to write an article, please give me a thumbs up...
step
1: Positioning is to make an accurate positioning through communication with customers or business personnel who contact customers.
Although the accuracy of positioning cannot determine whether it will definitely pass, if the positioning is inaccurate or too far off, it will be 100% passed. Positioning determines the quality of your manuscript. Imagine, can a company with an annual output value of 1 million and an annual output value of 1E have the same positioning? Similarly, if the correct positioning of these two companies is exchanged, they will still fail. Generally speaking, the thinking of a company with an annual output value of 1 million does not reach that level, which is determined by the size of the company (note that this is about general companies), and a company with an annual output value of 1E will naturally not be interested in the level of 1 million. When communicating, accurately grasp the preferences of the customer. Carefully observe the decoration and decoration of the customer's company/office. Pay attention to his words and deeds. Do these points. Even if you cannot get accurate positioning in the language communication with the customer, you can analyze it from the side. Especially for those customers who do not know how to express themselves, you should pay more attention to these side things.
Generally, the first document I ask for from clients is the CIS sample booklet. I won't elaborate on what CIS means to a company. You can check it yourself. CIS is like the soul.
In early 2005, the company received an order. After the first draft was formed, I got information from the sales side. I thought it was just a small factory owned by a local boss, so I made a version that suited their taste according to my experience. As a result, after this version was sent to the side, the vice president approved it. This strengthened my originally wavering mentality. But the result was that I couldn't get the money. The reason was that the boss directly rejected it after returning. After 3 months of tug-of-war, I came to the factory with the sales. As soon as I entered the door, I knew it was not good. After meeting the boss, I had to reposition their company. Then I judged that the gap between the vice president and the boss was too big. Facts proved my judgment. The workers all spoke with admiration to the boss, but disdained the vice president.
Positioning is not something that can be expressed in precise language. It requires you to discover, judge, and feel.
2: Reference (may be omitted)
To put it in a complete sentence, it means "comprehensively researching and exploring similar sites given by customers". In fact, there is no need to say more about this. You should carefully and comprehensively browse the reference websites given by customers and make a thorough understanding. And you must understand what the customers say is good and what is not good about them. In this way, you will have more confidence in your manuscript.
3: We see the word communication every day, but have you ever thought about what it means specifically?
In my opinion, it is nothing more than understanding and expression, with analysis in between. Understand the client's meaning, analyze the pros and cons, analyze the importance, and analyze the rationality. Then make a selection based on your own professional knowledge, and finally express it. Note that the client is not a professional, so you must express your design ideas in their language.
A designer who doesn't know how to express himself cannot be considered an excellent designer. Similarly, a designer who doesn't know how to stick to principles is not a good designer either. You need to understand that clients are not professionals. They are just discussing or criticizing your work, not your character. In the process of communication, you need to keep your bottom line. As the old saying goes, even if the business fails, the friendship remains. Never get angry, even if the other party swears, because the client cares more about your work than you do.
When submitting the draft to the client, there is one very important point that most people don’t do. That is the design description. Generally, I have two options. Because text is not as direct and quick as language, I will call the client and briefly introduce it. If the client is free and willing, I will pick a time to visit him/her directly. If the client doesn’t have time, I will present my design description. Professional attitude determines the degree of respect the client has for you, and your reputation mostly affects the price.
When the production is 80% done, or when the preliminary draft is submitted, you should exaggerate the functions or pictures you designed for the customer by 150% to let the customer know. Because at this time, you can win further favor and the customer will be more willing to check out with you. Then quickly solve the additional content requested by the customer, and ask whether to set the number of visits to a certain number. Whether to add some other prompt information...
You need to analyze the opinions and suggestions from different angles (without major changes to the manuscript). Generally, I will say that there is no problem. Then, after a little thought, express your methods or means in the most concise and popular language. Let the customer firmly believe that you have no problem. If there is really a problem, you still need to express your ideas or difficulties in a calm tone after saying that there is no problem, and let the customer understand. If the customer insists, then don't mention adding money easily. Guide the customer and let the customer come up with a solution of adding money by increasing the workload and difficulty.
As for the boss lady or other people's opinions, first of all, you have to be able to receive them without leaks. Never be silent when someone speaks... You should be good at using (the boss means ***, the boss thinks ***) which is a centralized method. If the boss is not satisfied, but the people under him are satisfied, then you have to be very careful to say: (General Manager X seems to know more about colors, he thinks this is good, Director XX has a keen sense, he thinks this is also good.) and similar sentences. Remember, before you gain the absolute trust of the customer, never directly deny the opinions of any of them. Even if the customer shoots himself in the foot, you have to take the blame for him.
(I think I said too much...)
3: Modifications and post-maintenance are done immediately to ensure quality. If there are any that are very pleasing but not laborious or time-consuming, they will be given to him for free.
PS: Learning and design attitude.
A serious, responsible, healthy and enthusiastic attitude will benefit you greatly in work and life.
The Big Picture:
1: You must be more than 80% sure that the client will be satisfied with your work. Because to a large extent, your draft determines the success or failure of this order.
2: Attitude determines everything.
3: Respect everyone.
4: Cooperate well with colleagues.
Bottleneck, confusion, blank and others.
Regarding bottlenecks, I believe many people have encountered them. When I was a child, I practiced calligraphy. Suddenly, my writing became a mess for a period of time. My father scolded me, and I didn’t know the reason. Later, when I studied art in high school, I realized that when I couldn’t draw, it was not because I couldn’t draw, but because I encountered a bottleneck. If I can successfully break through, I will definitely make great progress. Otherwise, I may stay at the same level for a long time.
There are two kinds of bottlenecks, at least I think there are two. One is in terms of ability or level, and a breakthrough symbolizes progress. The other is mental, and there are many reasons, such as fatigue caused by long-term work without good relief. Or the work is frequently photoshopped, self-confidence is hit, or even the ridicule of the designer you respect the most, etc., which will cause bottlenecks. After you break through such a bottleneck, your thoughts will rise to another level. If your ability can keep up, you are likely to enter a higher and broader field.
It is normal to have a blank mind after receiving a contract. The worst thing is that the blank mind lasts too long. At this time, you need to adjust, go out for a walk, eat something, chat with colleagues, or chat with irrelevant people in another environment. After shifting all your attention, come back to continue your work. Confusion is different. Confusion means that when designing, you suddenly lose direction and feeling at a certain step. When encountering this situation, I usually sort out my thoughts from the beginning, or look at the plan I wrote in advance. Since I developed the habit of writing plans, I have basically never encountered this situation again.

Designer's bad temper.
There will be no good solution for this in the future. The recommended method is to be calm and don't worry, there won't be so many people attacking you maliciously. You should learn to think from different angles about their suggestions. Make sure they speak in a coherent way, otherwise don't let them speak. There is no need to limit people of the same level, because when the level is similar, it often only takes a few sentences or even a few words to communicate, and both parties can understand each other. Designers should not be afraid of criticism from others. Similarly, when giving suggestions to others, you should pay attention to two points: one is to be organized and clear, and the other is not to have too much personal emotion.
