Why is IE6 used by the most people?

Why is IE6 used by the most people?
First and foremost, I am a web designer. To be more specific, I am an XHTML front-end designer. So, I hate IE6. I believe that all designers with the same or better skills as me hate IE6 as much as I do. However, with over 80% market share in the domestic market, we have to face IE6, an alternative browser.
My title is, IE has launched the official version 8, why is IE6 still alive? So how do we do it in the end? Is it historical reasons, technical issues, or the so-called national conditions of China?
First of all, I'm going to curse this damn IE6!
IE6's first sin: No support for pseudo-classes except a!
What does it mean that pseudo-classes are not supported? In fact, it is very simple. The lack of support for pseudo-classes makes it impossible to complete a pure div+css drop-down menu in a simple way. If we want to achieve the effect of a drop-down menu in IE6, it may not be impossible to achieve it with pure CSS, but it requires a lot of HACKs, and a lot of control statements must be added to the HTML code. If CSS is not used but JS is used to implement it, it will undoubtedly increase the computer's computing mechanism and reduce the efficiency of the web page.
None of this is critical, the key is that it makes it extremely challenging to create a drop-down menu in IE6. Many junior web designers find it difficult to design one on their own and have to refer to others’ designs. Or, look at the JS code that you can't understand at all.
IE6's second deadly sin: no support for PNG multi-bit transparency!
In fact, the introduction of PNG image technology has made web pages more gorgeous. Just imagine that we can easily create a transparent effect, and this method only uses a PNG image. What a pleasant thing it is. However, due to the lack of support from IE6, we had no choice but to give up.
To support PNG transparency on IE6, you may need to think of many ways. CSS filters, JS... However, no method is perfect. And a perfect method for IE6 is - there is no solution.
IE6's three deadly sins: numerous bugs, including the floating left padding bug!
IE6 has so many bugs that you can't imagine it. When you browse a normal web page in any other browser, errors will appear in IE6. Sometimes, just a comment can cause an error! ! The unfortunate thing is that you must fully understand these BUGs before you can design a web page that can be displayed correctly in IE6. All of this has undoubtedly brought you unimaginable pain.
The four deadly sins of IE6: no support for relative window fixed positioning!
Can you imagine? If IE6 supports fixed window positioning, then we don't need to consider the so-called JS when making QQ customer service panels. We only need to write the customer service code into the web page and then control it with fixed positioning. In this way, our QQ customer service panel is perfectly displayed. But the problem is that IE6 does not support it, which makes such applications unimaginably difficult. You must understand JS. If you don’t know JS, you must search aimlessly on the Internet for information left by experts.
The problem in the question is that most of these codes do not support the latest browser standards. Why? Because these were written several years ago, people now study the so-called SEO rather than these boring techniques.
pain!
The five sins of IE6: extremely low execution efficiency and serious suspended animation!
The inefficiency of IE6 is beyond your imagination. When you open the homepage of Sina.com yourself, you can feel that the browser is lagging. But you must know that the handwriting on Sina.com's homepage is very ideal, it's just big. When you open a large website with poorly written content, you'll know what a fucking pain it is.
If some JS is added to the web page, ok, wait for the fake death! When you find a window is frozen, what you need to do is to close all IE windows, not just the frozen window!
Speaking of this, we have to mention those browsers based on IE6, such as TT, THEWORLD, Matou, etc. What all the developers of these browsers have to consider is how to solve the browser's suspended animation problem at the periphery. . . Do you think it will collapse or not?
Six sins of IE6: No support for opening multiple tabs!
The problem with not supporting multiple tabs is that when you open one web page after another, your taskbar will eventually be flooded with these windows. Of course, this is just a matter of browsing habits. All mainstream browsers open multiple tabs, but IE6 is the only one that does not open. However, it does occupy most of the browsers. I believe that for anyone, it is a very headache, very depressing, and very wanting to jump off the building.
The seven deadly sins of IE6: endless security vulnerabilities!
What is the most important thing? Safety! But IE6 has been plagued with security vulnerabilities since the day it was launched! Even today, a security breach occasionally occurs.
Of course, IE6's crimes are too numerous to list, and I can't possibly criticize them all. The above is just a summary of the difficult problems encountered when designing and browsing web pages. There are still many key issues that have not been mentioned. I hope my colleagues will continue to criticize it!

The theme of this article is not to criticize IE6, but to analyze why IE6 is so popular in the country. I believe that by analyzing this issue it is not difficult to understand why even a vulgar actor like Xiao Shenyang can become popular all over the country.
1: WINDOWS XP has been glorious for 7 consecutive years!
As we all know, IE6 is the browser that comes with the XP system. As XP gradually replaced 98 and 2000, IE6 entered thousands of households. Most people directly use the browser that comes with the system instead of downloading and installing a browser themselves, so it is not difficult to estimate that IE6 can occupy such a large market share.
Another factor that contributed to this trend was the popularity of the GHOST system. Many GHOST systems are based on XP, which to a certain extent facilitates the staff of the computer city, but on another level, it actually provides a free promotion for XP.
There are always pros and cons. With the popularity of XP, IE6 has stuck to Chinese computers like a hemorrhoid that is difficult to pull out.
2: The incompetence of competitors!
IE6's only competitor is Firefox. However, for me personally, it is difficult for me to have much interest in Firefox. To me, Firefox is just a tool for analyzing websites rather than a browser for daily use. Why? Because the interface is not friendly. I am just wondering how a world-class manufacturer can make a browser of this style. Don't you refer to those excellent IE core multi-window browsers? For example, the interfaces of TT, THEWORLD, etc. are so comfortable, who would want to give themselves trouble for no reason?
The interface problem is certainly serious, but what is more serious is that Firefox is completely incompatible with the usage habits of Chinese people, which is the ultimate reason that restricts the development of Firefox in China. For example, mouse gestures, such as double-clicking a tab to close a web page, etc. Of course, some people say that plug-ins can make up for it, but don’t you see, there are so many plug-ins in Firefox, which one do you install? And why can't it be integrated like other browsers? Is it possible that using Firefox is inherently a technical job?
Now it's Google Chrome. It’s cool, I like it very much. Google is Google, and its browser is very good, but the problem is that it is a new product with weak functions and relies only on the excellence of its core.
As an aside, the cores of Google, IE8, Opera, Apple browser, etc. should be consistent. Even if they are not consistent, their effects are the same. Therefore, you only need to install one of these browsers. But Firefox is different. Firefox is different from all these browsers.
Since these external competitors are not enough, let’s take a look at Microsoft’s own browser, IE7. When I excitedly downloaded IE7 and installed it, I cried. I cried my heart out. I have never seen such an uglier browser in my entire fucking life. I wonder if all the people at Microsoft are idiots. What is such a big tab bar used for? You can't close it by double-clicking, and it takes up so much space. So disgusting! More importantly, as a multi-tab browser, why do you have to reopen a browser instead of a new tab when clicking a link?
This problem exists not only in IE7. I found that other browsers except Google have this problem. Are foreigners stupid? I really can't understand why, when domestic toilets are so excellent, they can't learn even a little bit from them.
Originally, IE6 was widespread because of the XP problem, and the disadvantages of these competitors made everyone unwilling to upgrade or change browsers. Therefore, there are so many difficult problems left for us web designers.
3: Internet users have low professional quality!
I am absolutely not criticizing the upbringing of our Chinese netizens, although it is indeed not that good. When it comes to Internet skills, every netizen thinks he is very cool, but do you believe it? I have many clients (my clients are of course webmasters) who don’t know what a browser is! !
If you don’t know what a browser is, of course you won’t think of changing it. Isn't this something that is very easy to understand? The reader may say, no way, but just ask those friends around you who know little about the Internet, how do they go online? They would say, double-click the E icon on the desktop. . .
4: Website designers are too considerate of our netizens <br />Faced with so many IE6 browsers, web designers can only take care of them instead of ignoring them, unless it is a work that fully demonstrates their own skills. This is helpless, and everyone feels the same, including me.
Five: Others, including the perfect integration with the file manager, are the so-called advantages of IE6. The most important thing is that all online banks seem to only support IE. This also limits the development of other browsers.
Many factors have led to the current browser landscape. How to solve the problem is not something I have the final say on. I can only brag and help you calm down. However, there is still hope in the dawn.
Windows 7 is almost OK. After 7 is launched, I believe IE8 will gradually replace IE6 just like IE5 did. By then, the spring for us web designers will arrive. And then, all we have to do is to make our design better.
